Sports Betting Prop Firm: What It Means and How FBMO Works

"Sports betting prop firm" is the label many people use for programmes like FBMO, where you pass an evaluation under fixed rules before you can earn Rewards. One thing to know first: every FBMO account is simulated, and no real money is wagered through FBMO.

Pass both phases and satisfy the Funded Account admission criteria to access a simulated Funded Account. Eligible payout requests generate real-cash Rewards equal to 80% of the amount requested.

All FBMO accounts, balances and platform activity are simulated. The one-time Challenge Fee is non-refundable unless a statutory withdrawal right applies before activation. Eligibility restrictions apply.

What Is a Sports Betting Prop Firm?

The term “sports betting prop firm” is commonly used for programmes that evaluate sports picks under fixed risk and activity rules and allow successful participants to earn under a reward programme.

The term comes from trading, where proprietary ("prop") firm programmes test traders under set rules before offering them a funded account.

What sits behind the label varies from one company to another. Four questions decide whether a programme suits you: is the account real money or simulated, what can you lose, what are the rules, and how are rewards paid? The rest of this page answers them for FBMO.

How the FBMO Evaluation Works

The FBMO Challenge has two phases. A phase is passed only when you meet the progress, risk and activity rules at the same time.

  1. 1. Choose a simulated account size

FBMO offers six simulated account sizes: $1,000, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000, $50,000 and $100,000. The one-time Challenge Fee for each size is shown in the challenge selector, and the fee and account parameters confirmed at checkout are the binding terms for your Order. You can hold more than one Challenge, as long as your active simulated accounts add up to no more than $200,000.

  2. 2. Pass Phase 1

Reach a 10% Profit Target while staying inside the risk limits, with at least 30 Valid Bets over at least 5 Trading Days, within 45 calendar days of activation.

  3. 3. Pass Phase 2

Meet the same targets and limits again. Phase 2 is included at no additional charge and uses a stricter Consistency Cap.

  4. 4. Apply for a simulated Funded Account

Passing both phases makes you eligible to be considered for the Funded Account Programme. Admission is not automatic: it can be declined in the limited cases set out in the Terms, including where your aggregate Simulated Account Size would exceed $200,000.

The rules that decide a pass or a fail

  • Maximum Drawdown: 10% of the opening balance, calculated on a net basis.
  • Daily Loss Limit: 5% of the opening balance, calculated on gross losses per UTC day. Winning picks do not offset losses for this limit.
  • Stake per pick: between 0.5% and 2% of the simulated account size.
  • Minimum odds: 1.50 decimal, including the combined odds of a combination bet.
  • Consistency Cap: a single winning pick counts toward the target only up to 1.5% of the opening balance in Phase 1 and 1.0% in Phase 2. It limits progress, not stakes.
  • Valid Bets: only picks settled as Won or Lost count. Void, Cancelled or Pending picks do not.
  • Activation: each phase starts with your first pick and must be activated within 45 calendar days of access being made available, or access is suspended and the Challenge Fee is forfeited.
  • Prohibited practices: including account sharing, creating or operating more than one User Account, and using bots, scripts, AI tools or betting calculators to select or place picks without FBMO's prior written consent.

What You Can Earn and What You Can Lose

What you can earn

A simulated Funded Account keeps the same nominal size as the Challenge you passed, and the same drawdown, daily loss, stake and odds rules apply. When you submit an eligible payout request, the full requested amount is deducted from the simulated balance and FBMO pays a real-cash Reward equal to 80% of that amount.

  • First payout: your balance must exceed the Baseline by at least 10% of the account size, with at least 30 Valid Bets and 14 Trading Days.
  • Later payouts: balance above the current Baseline, at least 14 calendar days since the previous request and at least 20 new Valid Bets.
  • Every request: no unsettled picks and no other payout request pending.
  • Processing: approved payout requests are processed within 72 hours of approval, excluding Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays observed in the Cayman Islands.
  • Methods: bank transfer, PayPal, cryptocurrency, or Razorpay in eligible jurisdictions, subject to availability.
  • Checks: every request is reviewed, full identity verification is required before the first payout, and sanctions screening applies. A minimum payout amount applies; check FBMO’s current published amount before submitting a payout request.

What you can lose

  • The Challenge Fee. It is not refunded if you fail, if your account is terminated for a breach, or if you do not activate a phase within 45 days.
  • The only exception: if you have a statutory withdrawal right (for example as a consumer in the EU, EEA or UK), you can withdraw within 14 days, but only before your first pick activates the Challenge.
  • A failed Funded Account cannot be reinstated; to continue, you buy a new Challenge. If it failed a risk rule, any Reward that was already eligible must be requested within 30 days of the failure notice. Rewards are forfeited if the failure is due to a prohibited practice or another material breach.

Because the account balance is simulated, you do not risk the displayed balance as real money. The amount you pay FBMO to enter the evaluation is the Challenge Fee.

What You Can Earn and What You Can Lose
  3. 3. How are the loss limits calculated?

FBMO: daily loss uses gross losses per UTC day; drawdown is net against the fixed opening balance. Check this on any programme: the two methods fail you in different situations.

    How the FBMO Evaluation Works
  4. 4. Can one big win pass the evaluation?

FBMO: no. A Consistency Cap limits how much one winning pick counts toward the target.

    How the FBMO Evaluation Works
  5. 5. Is there a minimum activity or a time limit?

FBMO: 30 Valid Bets and 5 Trading Days per phase, within 45 days of activation.

    How the FBMO Evaluation Works
  6. 6. When can you request a payout, and how fast is it processed?

FBMO: payout eligibility depends on the balance and activity conditions explained above. Once an eligible request is approved, the Reward equals 80% of the amount requested and is processed within 72 hours of approval, excluding weekends and Cayman Islands public holidays.

What You Can Earn and What You Can Lose
  7. 7. Who runs it, and can you use it where you live?

FBMO: FBMO Ltd., a Cayman Islands exempted company. It is not available in 23 U.S. states, comprehensively sanctioned jurisdictions, or other locations restricted under the Terms.
